Margene May is a self-taught artist who has dabbled in a variety of mediums over the years including oils, acrylics, watercolor and pastels. It wasn't until after she retired that she began her art career in earnest in 2009. Her primary focus is on fiber portraits with a variety of emotions but has expanded into 3-D figures, quilted wall hangings, commission pieces and workshops. May has exhibited her work extensively in the Ohio Region. Her art is in the collection of the Stark Tech University in Canton and her images have been published in “People and Portraits” Black Art In America’s tribute to Oprah Winfrey.
